The Lone Star Classic has become an exciting, positive, and fun contest at which your drumline can compete while at their peak performance level. Please make plans now to attend the 17th Annual Lone Star Classic Drumline Contest hosted by the Marcus High School Drumline.
This year’s contest will be held on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 (9am to 10pm approximately). Plans are currently under way to host this event at Goldsmith Stadium in Lewisville, Texas (20 minutes north of Dallas just west of I-35E).
Drumlines can perform in one of 5 classifications (New for 2009):
Division II Standstill - for the younger or more “novice” groups.
Division II Red Ensemble is 20 or fewer members
Division II Silver Ensemble is 21 or more members
Division I Standstill - for the more “competitive” standstill groups
Division I Red Ensemble is 29 or fewer members
Division I Silver Ensemble is 30 or more members
Marching Division - for those groups that include marching drill
First through Fifth Place and Captions will be awarded in each division for Standstill Division I, Standstill Division II and First through Eighth Place and Captions will be awarded in the Marching Division. Division II will be provided a three-judge panel. Division I and Marching will be provided a four-judge panel. Each of our Lone Star Classic judges is a renown music adjudicator. We will post our judges biographies as they confirm their commitment to the Lone Star Classic. <Click here to view the 2009 Judges!>
NOTE: This year’s contest will be limited to the first 60 entries. We will host Individual Solo Competition for soloists performing on Snare, Tenors, and Keyboard. Each instrument will be limited to 12 soloists. The solo event is now in its fourth year. The three-judge panel will be comprised of adjudicators that are well known solo experts. Please submit your entries as early as possible.
This year we are also pleased to host a number of accomplished college drumlines as they perform in our second College Showcase Series. We may also have drum and bugle corps representatives from Drum Corps International exhibiting informational booths.
