Parents and other assistants do not have to pay to help your show mobilize and set-up as needed. Directors will have an allotment of wristbands for students, drivers and directors. What are the classifications for my group to perform?

Drumlines can perform in one of 5 classifications:

Division II Standstill - for the younger or more “novice” groups.
Division II Red Ensemble is 20 or fewer members
Division II Silver Ensemble is 21 or more members
Division I Standstill - for the more “competitive” standstill groups
Division I Red Ensemble is 29 or fewer members
Division I Silver Ensemble is 30 or more members
Marching Division - for those groups that include marching drill

What is Standstill Division I versus Standstill Division II?
Standstill II was created to offer developmental drumlines a contest experience and to be adjudicated amongst peer-level drumlines. We encourage advanced, contest-experienced and elite standstill drumlines to compete in Standstill Division I. Standstill II will be judged by at least 3 judges whereas Standstill I will be judged by 4 judges.

Where can my drumline practice and warm-up?
We have practice bays allotted for your drumline practice. Please plan to unload and practice 2 hours before your scheduled contest performance. At the current venue, we are space limited, so please understand that everyone will have the same allotted time for warm-up practices. All warm-ups for solos must be between the front of the school building and the drumline practice bays.

When will my drumline play at the contest?
Schedules will be released approximately 2 weeks before the contest on the Marcus Percussion website (Lone Star Classic tab) at
www.marcuspercussion.com. The contest is a day-long event starting at 9am or earlier if need be. Standstill Division II will start in the morning and end in early afternoon. Standstill Division I will start in the early afternoon and end about 5pm to 6pm. We will have an opening and awards ceremony recognizing the Standstill Divisions at approx 6-7 pm. The Marching Division will be in the evening.

What time is my Drumline playing at the Lone Star Classic in 2011?

How is the order of performance chosen?
The order of performance is chosen by registration date/timestamp. Special consideration is made for returning champions and the Director's Crystal Circle members.  For the complete rules, see the Rules page.

How are soloists performance times determined?
Performance times for each instrument are picked entirely at random. We do check to make sure that the performer does not have any conflict with any commitments made to their own drumline’s performance in which case we attempt to make every accommodation by moving that performer to a later time slot (after their drumline commitment) unless the director requests the performer play earlier. If the student’s solo performance time is before the drumline’s scheduled warm-up time, then the student will perform as picked by the random drawing process.

Does my entire drumline have to perform at the event for me to enter as a soloist?
No.  Soloist have a separate registration process.  However, consideration will be made for solo performance times to not conflict with their drumline performance.

Are there manditory exercises for the solo compitions?

Yes.  Both Snare and Tenor solotist have a demonstration of compulsory skills.

* SNARE Compulsory: Double Stroke Roll, Open-Close-Open, not to exceed 60 seconds holding Close not less than 10 seconds.

* TENOR Compulsory:  Single Stroke Roll, Open-Close-Open, not to exceed 60 seconds, holding Close not less than 10 seconds. Use a single drum.
